Faefyx gets around a bit. Born in the southeast of England, they moved to Wales at a young age. They completed a BA in English Literature with Creative Writing at Bangor University in North Wales before eventually emigrating to upstate-New York in 2014 to work on an MA in Liberal Studies at SUNY Albany. In 2016 they moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where they live with their spouse and three cats.

Faefyx is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. LGBTQ+ advocacy is an important part of their work and life, and Fafeyx previously served on the board of the PFLAG Johns Creek Chapter.

Writing

Fiction

When writing novels and short stories, Faefyx tends towards science fiction, fantasy, and mystery. You can read a selection of Faefyx’s short fiction for free here, and support Faefyx’s Patreon to receive short stories and serial-form longer stories.

They published a science fiction novel, Kingdom Come, in 2014. Unfortunately, due to an issue with the publisher, the book is not currently available.

As well as producing new short fiction, Faefyx is working on a fantasy novel, a post-apocalyptic interactive story, and a reworking of Kingdom Come to match their current standards before attempting to get it republished.

Faefyx Collington is currently actively interested in finding representation for their fiction work.

Non-Fiction

Faefyx writes articles about popular culture, LGBTQ+ issues, and current affairs for sites such as Into, Screen Rant, Polygon, and more. Faefyx has experience developing other writers, maintaining a standard of coverage, and providing a particular focus on diversity and inclusion initiatives. You can find Faefyx’s personal articles and opinion pieces here, where they discuss life as a Brit in America, gender, current affairs, and whatever else occurs to them.

Podcasts & Videos

Faefyx is a founder, co-host, and producer for Unramblings. Unramblings is primarily a podcast about stories and the art of storytelling where Faefyx and their spouse, Charlyn Green, do deep-dive episodes on a range of stories told in different media including TV shows, movies, books, music, and video games. From time to time, Unramblings release scripted video essays on smaller topics related to stories and storytelling. Unramblings is currently on hiatus.

Occasional Musician

Having started playing the piano at age five, you might have thought that was enough for them. But Faefyx now collects instruments and enjoys playing different ones at inopportune moments. They currently play piano/keyboard, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, bass, flute, cornet, and a couple of other things. They enjoy finding or receiving older instruments on the cheap that need some love and care and providing them just that. Their current piano is an 1886 upright from Chicago and they are restoring a Menzenhauer chord zither from the early 20th Century (last updated December 2022).

They were part of a symphonic metal band in university and have started a new musical project with an old friend across 4,000 miles of ocean. Watch this space for more news as it becomes available (but don’t hold your breath, we’re both pretty busy).
